Sometimes changes in observable properties can indicate a physical change rather than a chemical change. Take, for example, the dissolved sugar demonstration from the previous activity. After the sugar dissolves in the water, it is left out overnight in the petri dish. The next day, all the water has evaporated, but the sugar is left in the petri dish. Was this a physical or chemical change?
