In my opinion (since i'm obsessed with quotes) is that it means if we know something is wrong, or if it goes against our beliefs and we just walk away or don't stand up and say something than everything you have done and all that you have been through will be wasted like it was never there and never important to you at all. You'll live with regret and you'll feel as though you aren't loyal and no one can trust you to do what you said you WILL do.
