Tritium is one of the three isotopes of hydrogen which contains 1 proton, 2 neutrons, and 1 electron. Out of three isotopes, protium is the most abundant isotopic form of hydrogen constituting about 99.98 % of total isotopic form.

Tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen having a half-life period of 12.3 years which is produced as a byproduct of fission in a nuclear explosion. Naturally, it occurs in a very trace amount.  

It emits the beta particle which is having very low energy so cannot penetrate the skin but can be hazardous if inhaled or get absorbed in the skin.
