Dr. raine is studying the relationship between love and attraction. he is particularly interested in learning which parts of the brain are active when people view images of their partner versus a stranger or friend, and so he uses scan to view the brain of his participants.

Dr. Raine will likely use PET to view the brain activity. In this type of scanning, areas of the brain that have high activity will also display higher levels of radioactivity. The scan will also measure increased use of oxygen by specific brain areas, which is also correlated with brain activity in those regions.
