Why is Atlanta known as the transportation hub of the South?

There transportation history began in 1836! Eventually the state was needing more transportation so they added a railroad from the Midwest and chose Atlanta to be the last stop to attract more tourists! In between 1845 and 1854 rail roads arrived from 4 completely different directions and Atlanta became a transportation house of the Southeast! isn't it fascinating!
