Joblessness radically increased and as they were unemployed or underemployed there was no regular wages which made the common men to face poverty and starvation.

Children who are middle aged started to work in the canaries, factories and mines. Children left school as they could not afford to pay and study. People started to pay in credit than cash as there was restricted money flow in the society.  

Rich grew richer at the cost of others. Self-gratification was considered a chief aspect and the common people braved to do anything in order to avail wealth.
