Why is it difficult to swim underwater in the great salt lake?

It will be a great task to swim underwater in the great salt lake because the salinity of the water is very high.

The composition of the  great salt lake was high salt level which increase  the overall mass of the water and makes the water become denser than the normal salt.

Also, an objects float better on a dense surface, that mean that when one swim on the salt water, it would be hard for you to stay submerged under the water.
