Although the problem above may look really different or much harder than any equation we have solved before, guess what?! It’s not! We still use the same properties to solve these kinds of equations. On the left side of the equation you have a fraction with a numerator of (4b+8) and a denominator of (2). The variable is in the numerator of the fraction so we will need to get rid of the denominator first. The numerator is being DIVIDED by the denominator so how do we undo division? We multiply!
Multiply both sides by the denominator, 2, and simplify.
(2)4b+82=10(2)
4b+8=
Now we have a simple two-step equation. Subtract 8 from both sides.

Lastly, divide both sides by 4 to isolate the variable.

As always, we can check our work by plugging our answer back into our original equation.
