A scientist studied whether Monarch butterflies were attracted to a rose garden after sunrise. The scientist observed the number of butterflies in the garden was a linear function of the number of minutes that passed after sunrise. The scientist found that after 4 minutes there were 17 butterflies in the garden and after 7 minutes there were 26 butterflies. Part A: Write a linear function to model the relationship between the amount of time that has passed, t, (measured in minutes) and the number of butterflies, b, that are in the garden. Remember to find the slope and intercept first before writing the complete function. Part B: Explain the meaning of the slope in the context of the problem. Part C: According to your equation from Part A, how many butterflies would be in the garden 21 minutes after sunrise?
