What type of risk applies to an investment in Treasury bonds? The risk that the value of the Treasury bond will diminish over time if the value of the dollar decreases, or buys less than it used to, is called risk. Treasury bonds are seen to have no risk because they’re backed by the promise of the US government to repay the bond.
