standing straight up i underhand tossed a dog treat (dog in other room at the time). i tossed it underhand, with my hand about 2 feet high. so my starting point was (0,2).

i have to wall space so i put a tape measure on the ground and noted how high it went in relationship to the book case next to it. i used the height of the bookcase and the tape measure on the ground to estimate that it went up 5 feet high 4 feet away. so the vertex was (4,5).

then i measured on the floor how far away it had landed from where i was when i tossed it in the air. it went 10 feet away and was on the floor so x was zero. the landing point (10,0)

i used desmos online graphing calculator and entered my 3 points as a table. ? then i computed a quadratic regression by entering y1~ ax1^2+bx1+c .
