Where does the power to rule come from in a democracy, autocracy, direct democracy, republic, monarchy, oligarchy, dictatorship, theocracy? How do each of these systems work?

              many important ancient principles in the american government came from ancient grecian and ancient roman ideas. from the greeks, we have a democracy form of government and citizenship. democracy began as an oligarchy where a few people power for the majority of the people. ancient citizenship excluded women, foreigners, and slaves. ours is reformed to include women and foreigners.  from the romans we have our republican representatives.  does this ?
