The Colombian Exchange brought horses to the Americas. That allowed them to transform their society from the ground up in terms of hunting and getting around. They were also brought sugar plants, pigs, chickens and some other animals to the American Indians. Unfortunately Europeans also came with some diseases that the New World had not seen before.

Trade was always important and the New World is so rich with resources such as gold, silver, sugar and good land for crop growing meant more money for the colonizers and thus motivating them to lay a bedrock to modern countries that we have today in the Americas.

The Columbian Exchange brought about a huge cultural exchange and both free and enslaved people were brought to the New World because of it. With that in mind, it was inevitable that the rise of mercantilism would begin because of the enormous new worlds to trade with.
