Why was manifest destiny questioned?

women worried about losing political power.
abolitionists worried about the spread of slavery.
businesses worried that production could not keep up with expansion.
farmers worried there was not enough land.

Abolitionists worried about the spread of slavery. 


Among the motives for opposition to Manifest Destiny was the abolitionist preoccupation with the spread of slavery around the world. Women did not even have political power and farmers would gain from this process. So also the entrepreneurs, who would expand their consumer market.
