One morning, Scott woke up late and had to hurry to get ready for school. His school, Westlake Elementary, was about ten minutes
away from his house. Scott picked up his library book, Charlotte's
Web, and tucked it into his backpack with his homework. He almost
forgot his soccer uniform. He had practice that afternoon with his
team, the Red Devils. In the bathroom, Scott ran a comb through his
hair and quickly brushed his teeth with Minty Max Toothpaste. There
was only time to grab a banana from the kitchen before Scott hurried
to the door. Suddenly, he had an idea! “Mom," he called. "Can you
please drive me to school?" When he arrived at the building, Scott
saw his best friend, Peter, waiting for him at the front door. They
hurried to their classroom and sat down in their chairs just as the
tardy bell rang. Relief flooded through Scott's body, and he sighed
with happiness! He had made it!
