Prólogo
En México, el cuento tiene larga tradición. [...] Aquellos produ-
cidos durante el siglo xix [...] trasminan costumbres o matices
de la época y son indispensables para seguir y comprender el
desarrollo de nuestra cuentística. [...]
Este es el segundo tomo de la compilación Cuentos mexica-
nos inolvidables. [...] El propósito de este repertorio -que junto
con sus dos hermanos incluirá a más de cincuenta autores-es,
como ya se dijo, un empeño por localizar, entre la producción
de narraciones breves mexicanas del actual siglo, aquellas que
según otros juicios atendibles y los nuestros, merecen considerarse
como las más bellas, magistrales, originales, ingeniosas y en las
cuales se manejan con oficio y arte libertarios, tesituras que van
desde lo humorístico a lo dramático, haciéndolas inolvidables.
