Why did the Middle Colonies have such a diverse population? The Quakers in the New England Colonies encourages those different from them to relocate. The population had a higher proportion of slaves than in the Southern Colonies. Port cities attracted people from many different parts of the new world. Because the people who settled there were peaceful, Native Americans joined their communities.
