What are the major historical events that have influenced the biographies of people in your generation? in your parents’ generation? what does this tell you about the influence of society and history on biography? the terrorist attack in new york on september 11, 2001 and the great recession of 2008 are two major historical events that affects my generation in terms of national security and financial regulation. for my parents, john f. kennedy’s assassination in 1963 struck terror in the lives of americans which was also a topic of tightened security. these historical events have significant influence in society as it changed the way of living for those affected. since these attacks, the u. s. has implemented maximum security at airports by checking all individual belongings, installing cameras to monitor one’s behavior and actions; creating a sense of safety for people residing in the u. s. and beyond. and since the great recession, more regulations have been implemented in financial institutions to protect the wealth of individuals and the economy at whole which creates a trust between large entities and consumers. historical events evidently create structure for which people live in today.
