How did the great compromise satisfy both the smaller states as well as the larger states

The Great Compromise satisfied both the small and large states by coming to an agreement. The large states wanted population (including slaves), to be the factor of representation but the smaller states pointed out that it wasn't fair to base representation on population when smaller states had lower populations. The large states (most large states had half of their population made up of slaves), especially wanted slaves to be counted even though slaves weren't considered citizens but since a majority of the population were slaves they wanted slaves to be counted even though slaves were considered "property". So the smaller states who don't use slavery didn't like the fact larger states could count slaves. The large and small states finally came to a conclusion, every 5 slaves would count as 3 citizens this meant that the large states wouldn't have as much of a population to represent and wouldn't overpower the small states, this satisfied the small states since the large states wouldn't have as much representation. The fact that some slaves would be counted as citizens and that representation would be based on population satisfied the large states.
