suicides: these deaths begin just under 30,000 and rise starting in 2001 very slightly each year until they reach 35,000 in 2007. drug-induced deaths: these deaths begin just under 20,000 and rise dramatically every year starting in 2001. by 2002, they have gone up 5,000. by 2004, they have reached 30,000. by 2005, they are just under 35,000. by 2006 and 2007, they are just under 40,000. gunshot deaths: these deaths begin just under 30,000 and fluctuate slightly every year until they are just over 30,000 by 2007. homicides: these deaths begin between 15,000 and 20,000. they spike up quickly to 20,000 in 2001, but then they go back down the next year to between 15,000 and 20,000. they stay relatively stable at this point, rising only slightly until they are just under 20,000 by 2007.
