What word would you generally use for someone who is clearly known by the main character in a book, but's name is not said yet? for example, if the main character was practicing fighting with someone they clearly know, but a name hasn't been said yet. this example is just to understand what i'm asking. don't use that example for my question, since my question is about any situation that a word would fit in. only answer if you know the answer. (plz plz plz don't say i don't know. if you don't know then don't answer)
