Based upon the excerpt provided from “A Visit from the Goon Squad,” it can be inferred that because Scotty had existed “under the radar” of contemporary society by never having an online persona and had no means of being tracked because he was offline, his music was different because he would not have had any of the influences or contaminations a musician in mainstream society would have had.  Thus, it can be further inferred that because of this his music would have been considered different and pure, therefore, unique.
