In the “Apple Tree Switch,” there are five characters—the narrator, his mother, the grocery store customer mother, the grocery store customer mother’s son, and the grocery store owner.  When people like characters and/or find them interesting, it is probably because they can most closely relate to them, because a character within the story closely reminds them of one whom they hold dear, or because a character has qualities/characteristics they admire.  A typical answer could be for you choose any character, and a good reason could be because the character reminded you of yourself.
