In Act V, the Rude Mechanicals put on the play. How do the Atherian nobles react to the play?
They gently mock the play the whole time they are watching it, but they do seen
to genuinely enjoy the play even though it is silly.
They don't watch the play.
The Duke is so displeased with the play that he has Bottom executed.
The Athenian nobles decide to put on their own play, to show the "hempen
homespun" commoners how it is actually supposed to be done.
