1. What did Judy mean when she said "I'm stuck,"? How did Leslie know that she became unstuck?

3. Write one example of figurative language from the chapter that shows Jess's fear of the bad weather. Why doesn't Jess want to tell Leslie about his fear of the rising creek?​

1)Judy was on writer's block, a time when she couldn't think of anything to write. After a brief, distracted conversation with the children, Judy eventually returns to typing furiously on her typewriter. This prompts Leslie to comment that her mother has come "unstuck."

3)Jess has a horror of being afraid of anything,  from his father's well-known expectations that he will be a "true man."  He is unable to speak to Leslie about his fears, even though she could probably have found some way of comforting him or alleviating his fears.
