Summary of a place to call home (the book version)

This book is a basic summary of immigration and the challenges immigrants face. The authors talk about what brings immigrants to America, and how they fell about their new homes. They also talk about the challenges immigrants had and how they want to see their futures living in America. So basically, this book is letting us have a point of view from the immigrants' eyes.

x + 2(2x - 4) = 12     use distributive property

x + (2)(2x) + () = 12

x + 4x - 8 = 12     add 8 to both sides

5x = 20     divide both sides by 5

x = 4

put the value of x to the first equation:

y = 2(4) - 4

y = 8 - 4

y = 4
