sooo basically its asking for you to write an essay on one work of literature rather it shall be a book poem letter or even a quote from nietzshe then its saying you have to write one specific sentence in that work of whatever book poem etc it is and compare it to the lens quotation which is character is what you are in the dark and explain how it could relate to that quote

ill give an example say im using annabelle lee by edgar allen poe right? so in my opinion annabelle lee or however the frick you spell it  doesnt apply to that poem because the quote "character is what you are in the dark" is rather a compliment and has like positivity i would say but when we look at annabel lee its talking about how the narrators mistress died and has more of negativity and sad lonely disappointed vibes
