Why college athletes should not be paid ?Write the thesis statement for your argument using the combined counterclaim and claim. Claim; Should collage athletes be paid to play? I believe that collage athletes should not be paid to play. This is because the fact that such athletes are playing in collage teams shows that the main purpose of such a team is to encourage the participating of students. Ultimately, the team is part of the school, and it should be treated as such. By paying them, the team would most likely get further away from the spirit of the schools and closer to the dynamics of professional sports.
Counterclaim; The other side would most likely claim that the publicity athletes receive, the fans they have the dedication they put into their games would justify them getting paid like professionals.
