2. You learned about the different writing styles of Whitman (5.16) and Dickinson (5.20) in this unit. Although they both broke stylistic boundaries, their styles are very different. Write a paragraph in which you explain one characteristic of EACH poet’s writing style. Name the characteristic (such as free verse, sparse use of words, etc.), explain how it is used in his/her poetry, and then describe the effect that the characteristic produces. Support your answer with examples from his/her poems. (You should have two paragraphs, one for Whitman and one for Dickinson.)
