Legacy is anything a person inherits from his or her predecessors. These could be material things or emotions, values, fame etc.

For me, legacy is a cherishable thing or feeling. My grandmother left me a bracelet. She wore it all the time. There was hardly a day in her life that I had not seen her wearing it.  

The bracelet was in silver color with sparkly beads embossed in it. Every time I look at it, it reminds me of how caring and charitable my grandmother was.

Legacies is an exceptional poem that describes the story of a young girl and her grandmother. One can think of the poem as a tribute to her grandmother, now that the girl is all grown up. The poetess describes the lack of communication between the two as the girl's grandmother wants her to bake.

The poetess uses controversial context in this poem and describes the feelings of the grandmother. She wants her granddaughter to learn everything and be independent. But, the girl shows no interest.

Using these two main characters, the poetess beautifully describes the importance of knowledge and its transmission between generations.

Throughout the poem, the poetess describes how old people and youngsters are unable to understand each other. The grandmother in the poem keeps stressing on the dual nature of every sentence iterated by the girl.  

Even when she says she does not know to make rolls, her grandmother gets confused and assumes something else.  

Meanwhile, the grandmother wants to be of some use. She wants the girl to learn something from her and become a strong woman.
