Use the kinetic theory to explain the following i) Solids have a fixed volume ii) Liquids have no fixed shape but have fixed volum iii) Gases are easily compressed​

i) Solids have a fixed volume-

In the solid state, the individual particles of a substance are in fixed positions with respect to each other because there is not enough thermal energy to overcome the intermolecular interactions between the particles. As a result, solids have a definite shape and volume.

ii) Liquids have no fixed shape but have fixed volum -Because the particles in liquids are very close together (barely further apart than in solids) liquids do not easily compress, so their volume is fixed. Gases can also flow, so occupy the shape of their whole container. They do not have a fixed shape. ... They do not have a fixed volume.

iii) Gases are easily compressed- Gases are easily compressed because of the space between the particles in a gas. The amount of gas (n), volume (V), and temperature (T) are factors that affect gas pressure (P) ● Compressibility is a measure of how much the volume of matter decreases under pressure.
