1. The word scientist is a general term, used to describe someone who researches and examines various aspects of the physical world

2. A scientific hypothesis is the initial building block in the scientific method. Many describe it as an "educated guess," based on prior knowledge and observation

3. Inference is the conclusion you arrive at based on evidence. The main difference between inference and observation is that inference is a process that involves the brain whereas observation is a process that involves the five senses.

the old alchemists made significant contributions to science even though there starting premises were off a bit. their conclusions after failure would steer them into better directions for investigation. science is no more than close observation and the initial mistakes result in rethinking and retrying experiments.
