In an oxidation rediction reaction what happens to the elemnt on the reduction process

The electrons are lost by an atom or ion in one reactant and gained by an atom or and ion in another reactant. When reduction occurs, an element will gain electrons and its oxidation number will decrease or is reduced; which means that it becomes negative.
