Which process requires energy for a nonspontaneous redox reaction to occur? electrolysis?

Below diagram provides an example of non-spontaneous electrochemical reaction. In the attached example, NaCl is dissolved in water. Na may be deposited at cathode, and Cl2 must be evolved at anode. 

However, this process is non-spontaneous in nature. 

Non-spontaneous reaction are one which does not occur on their own and external source of energy is required for reaction to occur.

Such reactions are referred as electrolysis.
