One very serious disease that exists in our world is ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which is a disease that affects the individuals nervouse system causing loss of muscle control. This disease affects more than 5,000 individuals per year, to the extent that most die within the first year. The disease affects every single aspect of the individuals lives as they begin to lose muscle control to the point where they can no longer move and their lungs stop working. It is known that this disease is caused by higher than normal levels of glutamate. With the help of technology in the future this chemical in the body may be able to be regulated and controlled using technology to the point where this disease will be completely treatable.
