A genotype is all of the POSSIBLE combinations of alleles that could POSSIBLY be expressed, a genotype is generally very large.

A phenotype is what is ACTUALLY expressed.

A good example is eye color...the possible eye colors in a human are green, blue, brown ect, these are genotypes.
