SPINICH DISK SENIERO Question: What is the effect of light color on the number of spinach disks that rise to the surface after 3 minutes?
Procedure:
1. Label 7 plastic cups with the following labels: "Red," "Orange," "Yellow," "Green," "Blue," "Indigo," and "Violet".
2. Add 200 mL of spring water and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda to each cup.
3. Place the "Red" cup under the lamp with the red light bulb and turn on the lamp.
4. Using a hole punch, cut out 20 spinach disks from the spinach leaves. Make sure to avoid cutting through any of the plant veins or stems.
5. Remove the plunger from the plastic syringe and place one finger over the small hole to prevent any liquid from leaking on the next step.
6. Add 20 spinach disks to the plastic syringe, along with 25 mL of water. The spinach. leaves should float on the water surface.
7. Replace the plunger on the syringe and invert the syringe so that the small hole is on top.
8. Push the plunger to remove most of the air, leaving about 5 mL of air in the syringe.
9. Place your finger on top of the hole and pull down on the plunger. This will create a vacuum in the syringe and you should see gas bubbles come out of the spinach disks.
10. Remove your finger from the hole. This will re-pressurize the syringe and some of the spinach disks will now sink to the bottom of the water in the syringe.
11. Repeat steps 8-10 until ALL twenty of the spinach disks sink to the bottom of the syringe.
12. Pour the water and spinach disks into the "Red" plastic cup and start the timer.
13. After 3 minutes have elapsed, count the number of spinach disks that have risen to the surface of the water. Record this number in your data table as "Trial 1" of the "Red" color light.
14. Remove the spinach disks and discard in the appropriate waste container.
15. Repeat steps 5-14 twice more for a total of three trials for the "Red" cup.
16. Repeat steps 4-15 for each remaining color of light ("Orange," "Yellow," "Green," "Blue," "Indigo," and "Violet") and corresponding labeled cup.
17. Calculate the average number of risen disks for all three trials, for each color.
18. Clean up any equipment you used.

Data: Color of Light Number of Spinach Disks Floating After 3 minutes
Trial 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Average
Red 7 6 5 6
Orange 18 20 19 19
Yellow 8 13 9 10
Green 7 4 4 5
Blue 20 17 20 19
Indigo 15 20 19 18
Violet 14 16 15 15
Write a conclusion for this spinach disk experiment. In your conclusion, be sure to: Answer the experimental question.
• Include supporting data from the Color of Light vs. Number of Spinach Disk table.
• Explain how these data support your conclusion.
• Provide a scientific explanation for the trend in the data
