After researching the rock they found, Mary and Jim believe it contains large pieces of the mineral limonite. They observed that their rock was yellow in color. The definition of a hypothesis is a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation. therefore this means that there hypothesis is that the stone is limonite  because limonite is also yellow.
