Glucose is the main fuel carbohydrate in the blood and, in the case of many organs, the basic fuel. Blood plasma carries it to all parts of the body. On the other hand, if the level of glucose in the blood decreases, the pancreas releases less insulin and more glucagon, a hormone with multiple effects, which together produce an increase in the levels of glucose in the blood, returning to their normal range.
