Elizabeth has had a stoke, and has suffered damage to her thalamus. what abilities would be most likely affected?

Thalamus or the inner chamber in Greek is located on top of the brainstem near the center of the brain. It is divided into many different areas which are interconnected to other parts of the brain. It must be noted that a stroke in one part of the thalamus will not have a similar effect on another part. 

The thalamus has a lot of functions which includes:

1. It manages temperature, light and physical touch sensitivity. It also controls the flow of visual, auditory and motor information.
2. The thalamus is also involved in the motivation, attention, and state of wakefulness among individuals.
3. It also controls the sense of balance and awareness of a human's arms and legs.
4. It controls our experiences of pain
5. It is also involved in the human's learning, memory, speech, understanding, and language might as well as the aspecys of experiences, expressions and personality.

It is largely considered as the relay station that receives signals fromthe brain's external regions, interprets the messages received and then sends them to other areas of the brain for the completion of processing.

Therefore, if stroke affects this region of the brain, all of the said function will be impaired.
