Explanation:

    The technique of metal engraving began to be used in Europe in the fifteenth century. The dies can be made from copper, zinc, brass and aluminum plates. The engravings on the dies, or metal plates, are made by direct incision - dry end - or by the use of acid baths - etchings .

    In the elaboration of the etching, the base is covered with an insulating varnish; shortly thereafter cuts are made with the cutter or other instrument having a metal end, thus configuring the desired image. Finally the representation emerges in the points without varnish, enabling the action of acid, which produces the grooves in which the paint will be deposited.
