Etiquettes are social norms that we follow in order to better get along with others. Each type of society, culture, or nation might have completely different etiquettes, and some customs may be followed almost unconsciously. Throughout your ASL journey, we have discussed some of the etiquettes that should be followed when signing and interacting with Deaf people. Discuss some of the best practices you’ve come across so far and explore how they relate to spoken languages and the hearing world. For each point you recall, compare and analyze how that practice is perceived in the Deaf community vs. in the hearing culture.
