To measure the volume of regular geometric shapes just multiple the length by width by height. To measure irregularly shaped objects, use the displacement method. Let me know if you need me to describe the displacement method. 

It depends on what kind of solid you are trying to measure. For example you would measure the volume of a rectangular prism by multiplying the measurements of the height and width together then multiplying it by the length. If you are measuring a solid such as a cube you would cube the measurement of any side since all side are equal. In other words you would multiply the measurement by 3.
