My local government officials haven't bothered to use any of the city budget to repair the roads, which haven't been re-paved for around 20 years. Some parts of the road could easily cause a severe car wreck. Some effective ways to communicate with any government officials is to write a hand-written letter (so the official knows you are indeed a real person), make an appointment with them, or getting the community to all sign a petition that signifies that you are unanimous on the issue, which in this example is the replacement of the nearby roads.
