Why do some people dislike federal grants-in-aid programs?

There are various reasons why people are opposed to federal grants-in-aids programs.  Although these programs help those who are in need, the source of funding from these programs come government budgets.  To increase the budget, government has to resort to various means such raising taxes on individuals as well as small and large businesses. As a result, those who are already working will have to pay additional taxes just to pay these programs.  Others believe that it only encourages people to be more dependent on federal aid rather than uplift their lives.
