1. Tenement-dwellers had to face several hardships such as poor life conditions and health problems due to the fact that little ventilation and little air could pass in those spaces. It was necessary for many poor people and immigrants to live here because it facilitated the payment of the rent. However, because of the narrowness and the terrible conditions, rats arrived and different diseases with them.
