Why are so many countries concerned about the growing globalization of the media?

Many countries are concerned about cultural preservation for one thing. With growing media influence younger generations are identifying more with the culture they see in the media rather than the rich and historic cultures of their countries. If this continues after a few generations a countries culture could be very sparse or even gone.
