How were the economies of the northern and southern states different? how were they the same? what factors led them to develop differently?

1. The northern states in the past relied on manufacturing (such as textile production and automobile production) as their main source of economic income.
The southern states on the other hand relied on agriculture (such as corn, cotton, and wheat) as their main source income 

2/ They both the same in the term of economic system that they implemented. Both northern and southern states operated with Free-market/Capitalist system, where the economic benefit would be rewarded the most to someone who read the demand of the market and posses the capital to make it.

3. Factors that caused the different:
- The climate in southern states is typically warmer compared to the northern states, which provides the perfect environment for many plants to grow.
- The industrial revolution in united states centered mostly on northern states, so the invention of machines for efficient manufacturing exist mostly on the northern states while the southerns states still rely on slavery.
