As the majority of people were not happy with this capital, therefore, in 1754, an attempt was made to change the capital. As a result, during the American  Augusta, Heard's Fort, and other regions served as temporary capitals. After the end of British rule, Augusta was made the capital of Georgia, then Louisville while a new city was being built on the Oconee River.  However, by 1847 some were afflicted with Milledgeville and hence called for a preference to transfer the capital to Atlanta.
