To the framers, the great danger of democratic government is the risk of tyranny of the majority. It was because of the British’ cruel rule.  

EXPLANATION  

About 2,000 years after the days of Plato and Aristotle in Philadelphia, there was a group of people who were trying to formulate a new constitution. They were George Washington, James Madison, and other framers of the Constitution. After British colonial rule, the Americans were overthrown. The formulators mentioned above are dedicated to creating a just government. After they felt the cruel British rule, the framers aspired to form a national government free of tyranny. Government governed by law.

In result, the new American state tried to be different from the city-state oriented to ancient Greece, although they were also struggling with many of the same political problem and of course, the framers in Philadelphia also studied and understood the political philosophies of Plato and Aristotle (Ancient Greece).

Tyranny and the Rule of Law (Plato - Aristotle)

Plato and Aristotle were instrumental in formulating important ideas about politics and government systems. Among many political thoughts they wrote, tyranny and the supremacy of law were the best. Tyranny happened when supreme power is given to a ruler. In the practice of the tyrannical government, the authorities become dictators, corrupt and use their power for their interests rather than the interests of society.

While the rule of law is the belief that all individuals must submit to the rule of law, including those in positions of authority, it can be a solution to the depravity of tyranny. The rule of law that is enforced fairly will guarantee that the authorities will not act arbitrarily and harm the people.
